My 26 years of teaching brings your child a vast array of educational experience. I work diligently to bring mixed media, art, and creative teaching tools to assist students in making personal connections to the content. I encourage independent thinking and strive to give students the skills to be successful in 4th/5th grade and beyond.
I will be taking my passion for science and social studies to help students make connections to their environment, see how their personal actions impact the world around them, and interpret data from the past to make reactions and positive changes to the future. We will be alternating science and social studies units throughout the year. You may follow our learning process through the "Today I Learned" tab.
I am one, of a 4-member team approach which capitalizes on our teaching strengths and preferred subjects, by departmentalizing the grade levels. Throughout the day, students will be able to experience multiple teaching styles, practice daily class rotation, and have several opportunities to acquire organizational management skills for middle school.
I come from a teaching family, as my father was an administrator and my mom was a teacher. My husband, Mel (yes, we share the same name!) is also a fellow educator. We proudly have 3 wonderful boys. Steihl, a social studies teacher; Sterling, pursuing his college degree and a soldier in our Nebraska Army-National Guard; and Stealth, an active sophomore here at Louisville High School.
